A passionate music educator, conductor, accompanist, and liturgical musician, Emily has built a career centered on excellence in music education, community engagement, and sacred music leadership. She currently serves as Director of Music at Christ the King Parish in Reading, Massachusetts, where she oversees music programming, directs adult, contemporary, and children’s choirs, and provides music leadership for weekend liturgies, holy days, weddings, and funerals. Prior to this role, she spent eight years as Music Director for the Newman Catholic Center on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus and the Amherst Catholic Community. Following the 2023 merger of the Newman Catholic Center and St. Brigid Parish, she assumed responsibility for the combined music ministry, planning music for four weekly Masses, directing both community and collegiate choirs, coordinating instrumentalists and substitute musicians, and providing music for weddings and funerals. During her tenure, she organized and directed Lessons and Carols and Taizé services, accompanied multiple ordination Masses, and performed for the consecration of a new church. Her extensive experience as both cantor and accompanist on piano and organ has strengthened their musical versatility, improvisational skills, and ability to adapt to a wide range of liturgical and performance settings.
In addition to her church music leadership, Emily is an accomplished music educator who taught for eight years at Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School in Groton, Massachusetts. There, she taught music to students in grades 5–8, including Chorus and General Music, and had also assisted with the band program. She worked to cultivate musicianship, vocal technique, creativity, and collaboration while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Her educational background includes a Master of Music Education from Eastern Washington University, a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and both a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano) and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from UMass Amherst. Her studies in music theory, ear training, history, pedagogy, and piano performance provided a strong musical foundation, while her degree in Communication Disorders equipped her with valuable skills for supporting learners with diverse abilities and needs. Licensed in Massachusetts as a Music Educator (All Levels), Emily remains committed to inspiring students, enriching faith communities, and creating meaningful musical experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds.
